Open Settings
Press Cmd + , / Ctrl + ,, choose Settings… from the app menu, or run Open settings from the command palette.- As a dialog. Settings opens over the app. Press Esc or click the close button to return to your work.
- As a tab. Click the arrow button in the dialog’s title bar (Open Settings as a tab) to move Settings into a tab in the header strip, where it stays open beside your Tasks. Close it like any other tab.
- In a narrow window. When the window is narrower than 768 px, Settings opens as a full page instead: a list of sections first, then the section you tap, with a back button to return to the list.
Search Settings
The Search settings box sits at the top of the Settings sidebar.- While you type, the results replace the section list. Each result names the section it belongs to.
- Pick a result to open its section. Settings scrolls to the matching row and highlights it.
- Use the arrow keys to move through the results.
- The first Esc clears the search. The next one closes Settings.
Groups And Sections
The sidebar has four groups. The group tells you whose setting it is:
Every section, in sidebar order:
There are two Diagnostics sections. The one under Application is about this app; the one under Host is about the selected host.
Host Picker
One picker heads the Host group. It chooses which host every section below it shows and changes, so you can review or change settings on any of your hosts from one window.- By default the picker shows the active host.
- Picking another host only changes what Settings shows. It never changes the window’s active host. While you look at another host, a note under the picker reads “Viewing — the active host is …”.
- Add host… at the end of the list adds a new host.
- Permissions › Modes is the one exception. The mode new conversations start in doesn’t depend on the host you pick. The other Permissions tabs do.
Section Numbers
While Settings is open, hold Opt / Alt and press a digit to jump to a section. Holding the key shows each section’s number in the sidebar. Only the first ten sidebar entries have a number:
Link mobile app, Usage and every Host section have no number. Keybindings lists this shortcut as Switch settings section by number.
In The Mobile App
Settings in the mobile app has the same groups, with a few differences:- There is no Keybindings or Link mobile app section.
- Account adds Delete account, which permanently deletes your Traycer account and its data.
- Rows that need the desktop app are hidden, such as Voice input and Prevent sleep while running in General and Zoom in Appearance.
- Settings opens as a full page: a list of sections, then the section you tap.
